I'm excited to have you here.
This program is designed to help you build strength, improve your health, and create habits that last. More than just workouts, my goal is to help you understand why you're doing what you're doing, so you can train with confidence and achieve long-term results.
Before you jump into your first workout, take a few minutes to explore the information below. It'll answer the most common questions and help you get the most out of the program.
When you're ready, head into the Trainerize app and get started with this week's workouts.
Let's get stronger together!
📱 How to Use the Trainerize App
A quick guide to help you get the most out of your training experience.
P.S Don't worry about learning every feature on day one.
The app is designed to be simple. Once you know how to find your workouts, log your weights, and watch the exercise videos, you're ready to go. You'll become more familiar with the rest as you use it.
-
Your workouts can be found on the Home screen of the Trainerize app.
Each week, you'll have six workouts available to choose from, but you only need to complete three.
The additional workouts are there to give you flexibility, allowing you to choose the sessions that best suit your schedule, equipment, or personal preference. Every workout follows the same training principles and is designed to help you build strength and improve your fitness.
When you're ready to train, simply open your chosen workout, tap Start Workout, and follow the exercises from top to bottom.
Aim to complete three workouts each week. Remember, consistency is far more important than trying to do every workout. Showing up regularly and progressing over time is what leads to lasting results.
-
Logging your workouts is one of the best ways to track your progress and stay motivated over time.
As you complete each exercise, record the weight and repetitions you performed. Trainerize will save this information, making it easy to see how you've improved the next time you complete the workout.
Don't worry if you can't remember to log every set during your first week. Focus on building the habit first, then aim to record your workouts as consistently as possible.
Remember, progress isn't about making huge jumps every session. Small improvements—whether it's one more rep, a little more weight, or better technique—add up to significant results over time.
-
Every exercise in the program includes a demonstration video to help you perform the movement safely and with confidence.
If you're unfamiliar with an exercise, take a moment to watch the video before you begin. Pay close attention to your body position, movement pattern, and the coaching cues provided.
Always prioritize good technique over heavier weights. Mastering the movement first will help you build strength more effectively and reduce your risk of injury.
If an exercise doesn't feel right or causes discomfort, reduce the weight and focus on your technique. If it still doesn't feel comfortable, substitute it for a similar exercise that better suits your body and training environment.
-
I understand that not everyone has access to the same equipment, which is why Trainerize allows you to substitute exercises when needed.
If you can't perform an exercise because of equipment limitations, tap the Substitute Exercise option to choose a suitable alternative. Whenever possible, select an exercise that targets the same muscle groups and follows a similar movement pattern to ensure you're getting the intended training effect.
Remember, the goal isn't to perform every exercise exactly as written—it's to consistently challenge the right muscles while moving safely and with good technique. If you're ever unsure which substitute is best, don't hesitate to send me a message through the app and I'll be happy to help.
-
One of the biggest advantages of using Trainerize is that it automatically saves your workout history, making it easy to see how far you've come.
Each time you repeat a workout, you'll be able to view the weights and repetitions you completed previously. Use this information as a guide to help you gradually progress over time.
Remember, the goal isn't to beat every lift every week. Some days you'll feel stronger than others, and that's completely normal. Instead, focus on making small improvements whenever you can—whether that's an extra repetition, a little more weight, or simply performing the exercise with better technique.
Over time, these small improvements add up to significant results, and your workout history will become one of the best ways to see just how much stronger you've become.
-
If you ever have a question about an exercise, your training, or anything else related to the program, don't hesitate to send me a message through the Trainerize app.
I'd much rather answer a question and help you train with confidence than have you guess or risk performing an exercise incorrectly.
No question is too small. Whether you need help with your technique, choosing the right weight, substituting an exercise, or understanding the program, I'm here to support you every step of the way.
Remember, you're not doing this alone—you have a coach in your corner whenever you need one.
-
To get the most out of the program, I recommend enabling notifications for the Trainerize app.
This will ensure you don't miss workout reminders, coaching messages, important updates, or any new content that's been added to help you succeed.
The goal isn't to bombard you with notifications—it's simply to keep you connected, accountable, and on track with your training.
How to Choose the Right Weight
One of the most common questions I get is, "How heavy should I lift?"
The answer is simple: choose a weight that challenges you while still allowing you to perform every repetition with good technique.
As a general guide:
Too light: You could easily perform many more repetitions when the set is finished.
Too heavy: Your technique starts to break down, you can't complete all the prescribed repetitions, or you need to compensate with poor form.
Just right: The final few repetitions feel challenging, but you could still perform another 2–3 repetitions if you had to.
Remember, your first priority is always quality movement. As your technique improves and the exercises begin to feel easier, gradually increase the weight to continue challenging yourself.
Don't worry about lifting the heaviest weights in the gym. Strength is built through consistent effort and gradual progression over time—not by trying to lift as heavy as possible from day one.
If you're ever unsure whether you've chosen the right weight, send me a message through the app. I'd be happy to help.
How to Track Your Progress
One of the best features of Trainerize is that it keeps a record of every workout you complete, making it easy to see how you're progressing over time.
After each exercise, log the weight you used and the number of repetitions you completed. The next time you perform that workout, you'll be able to see exactly what you did previously, giving you a clear starting point.
When you repeat a workout, ask yourself:
Can I perform the same weight with better technique?
Can I complete an extra repetition?
Can I increase the weight while maintaining good form?
Remember, progress doesn't have to happen every workout. Some days you'll feel stronger than others, and that's completely normal. The goal isn't to set a personal best every session—it's to make small, consistent improvements over time.
As the weeks go by, your workout history will become one of the most valuable tools for measuring your progress. Looking back at where you started is a great reminder of just how much stronger and more confident you've become.
Quick Tip: Don't compare your progress to anyone else—compare it to the version of you from a few weeks ago. Small improvements, repeated consistently, lead to big results.
Nutrition Fundamentals
Nutrition plays an important role in helping you build strength, recover from your workouts, and achieve your body composition goals. The good news is that you don't need a perfect diet to make great progress.
Instead of trying to change everything at once, focus on building a few simple habits that you can maintain consistently.
Start by prioritising:
Eating a source of protein with each meal.
Including plenty of fruit and vegetables throughout the day.
Drinking enough water to stay hydrated.
Eating mostly whole, minimally processed foods while still allowing yourself flexibility to enjoy your favourite foods in moderation.
Remember, consistency will always beat perfection. One meal or one weekend won't determine your results—it's the habits you repeat most of the time that make the biggest difference.
Throughout the program, I'll continue to share nutrition tips, educational resources, and practical strategies to help you build healthy habits that last.
If you'd like to learn more, be sure to explore the free articles in the Resources section of my website, where I cover topics like protein, carbohydrates, healthy fats, fat loss, and building sustainable nutrition habits.
Recovery & Rest
Your body doesn't get stronger during your workouts—it gets stronger as it recovers from them.
Training provides the stimulus, but recovery is what allows your muscles to repair, adapt, and become stronger over time. That's why recovery should be treated as an essential part of your program, not something that gets overlooked.
To support your recovery, focus on:
Getting 7–9 hours of quality sleep each night whenever possible.
Staying hydrated throughout the day.
Eating enough protein and nourishing your body with balanced meals.
Taking at least one full rest day each week.
Listening to your body and adjusting your training if you're feeling unusually fatigued or unwell.
It's also completely normal to experience some muscle soreness, especially during your first few weeks or after trying new exercises. Mild soreness is simply your body adapting to a new training stimulus and usually improves as you become more consistent.
Remember, recovery isn't about doing less—it's part of helping you perform at your best.
Expectations
This program is designed to help you build strength, improve your health, and create habits that last. While everyone progresses at a different pace, there are a few things you can expect along the way.
In your first few weeks, you'll likely notice improvements in your confidence, technique, and energy levels before you notice significant physical changes. As you continue training consistently, you'll begin to feel stronger, lift heavier weights, and build momentum.
The most successful members aren't the ones who never miss a workout—they're the ones who keep showing up, even when life gets busy.
Remember:
Aim to complete three quality workouts each week.
Focus on gradual improvements rather than perfection.
Trust the process and stay consistent.
Celebrate every small win along the way.
The goal isn't to achieve quick results—it's to build habits and strength that you can maintain for years to come. If you stay consistent, the results will follow.
Frequently Asked Questions
Aim to complete three workouts each week. You'll see six workouts available in the app to give you flexibility around your schedule, but you only need to complete three to make excellent progress.
How many workouts should I complete each week?
Choose a weight that feels challenging while allowing you to complete every repetition with good technique. The final few repetitions should feel difficult, but you should still feel like you could perform another 2–3 reps if needed.
How heavy should I lift?
Use the Substitute Exercise feature in Trainerize to select a similar movement. Whenever possible, choose an exercise that targets the same muscle groups and movement pattern.
What if I don't have the equipment for an exercise?
Don't try to make up for missed sessions by doubling your workouts. Simply continue with your next scheduled workout. Consistency over time is far more important than being perfect every week.
What if I miss a workout?
Some muscle soreness is completely normal, especially when you're starting or trying new exercises. This usually improves as your body adapts. Mild soreness is fine, but if you're experiencing severe pain or discomfort, let me know through the app.
Will I be sore after training?
If you can complete every repetition with good technique and the workout no longer feels particularly challenging, it's probably time to increase the weight slightly the next time you perform that exercise.
When should I increase the weight?
Progress isn't just about the scales. Pay attention to improvements in your strength, technique, energy levels, confidence, and how your clothes fit. Trainerize also keeps a history of your workouts so you can see your improvements over time.
How do I know if I'm making progress?
Absolutely. The additional workouts are there if you'd like more training or need flexibility around your schedule. However, remember that more isn't always better—recovery is just as important as training.
Can I do more than three workouts each week?
Send me a message through the Trainerize app at any time. Whether it's about an exercise, your training, or the program itself, I'm here to help. I'd much rather answer a question than have you guess.
What if I have a question or need help?
